Niska Coffee Sleeve

 
 
Whip this up in a couple of hours, add a reusable mug and a Starbucks gift card and voila! A quick and easy gift.

Finished size: approximately 3.5" wide x 3" tall

Materials/Tools:
  • US6/4mm needles of your choice for knitting in the round
  • US7/4.5mm needle to bind off (this can be a straight, DPN, interchangeable tip, etc.)
  • Cable needle, DPN, or other implement of your choice for cabling
  • Tapestry needle
  • 20-25 yds worsted weight yarn (samples are shown in Patons Classic Wool Worsted in Orchid, and some formerly cream Patons that was dyed with lemon-lime Kool-Aid)

Abbreviations:

K: Knit
P: Purl

With smaller needles, cast on 44. Join, being careful not to twist.

Work four rounds in 1x1 ribbing.
Knit 1 round.
Purl 1 round.

Stitch pattern:

Rounds 1 & 2: *K2, p2* to end
Round 3: Knit
Round 4: Purl

Repeat these four rounds one more time.
Work four rounds in 1x1 ribbing.
Using larger needle (or using the slightly stretchy method of your choice), bind off.

Gingerbread Cable Coffee Sleeve

  • US6/4mm needles of your choice for knitting in the round
  • US7/4.5mm needle to bind off (this can be a straight, DPN, interchangeable tip, etc.)
  • Cable needle, DPN, or other implement of your choice for cabling
  • Tapestry needle
  • 25-30 yds worsted weight yarn (sample is shown in Patons Classic Wool Worsted in Orchid)
Abbreviations:

K: Knit
P: Purl
C4f: Slip 2 stitches to cable needle, hold to front, k2, k2 from cable needle

With smaller needles, cast on 50. Join, being careful not to twist.

Setup round 1: *P1, k4* to end
Setup round 2: *P1, k4, p1, k1, p2, k1* to end

Pattern:

Round 1: *P1, k4 to end*
Round 2: *P1, k4, p1, k1, p2, k1* to end
Round 3: *P1, c4f, p1, k4* to end
Round 4: Rep round 2
Round 5: Rep round 1
Round 6: Rep round 2

Rep these 6 rounds 2 times more (18 rounds total). Using larger needle, bind off in pattern (or using the slightly stretchy method of your choice).
